How Does Tryptophan Work?

Tryptophan Use in Children

A normal dietary intake of tryptophan (through foods) is safe and beneficial for children. It is not known if tryptophan supplements are equally safe. Keep in mind that children may be more sensitive to the effects and toxicities of medications or supplements. Check with your child's healthcare provider before giving your child tryptophan supplements for any purpose.
