Who Should Not Take Silenor?You should not take Silenor if you:
- Are allergic to Silenor, doxepin hydrochloride, or any of the inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
- Have untreated, narrow-angle glaucoma (a condition of the eye).
- Have trouble passing urine (known medically as urinary retention).
- Have taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) within the past two weeks. MAOIs include:
