Intermezzo Drug Interactions
Before using Intermezzo, tell your healthcare provider about your alcohol consumption and if you are taking any medications, vitamins, or herbal supplements. Negative reactions can occur when Intermezzo is combined with certain products, including some antibiotics, antifungals, or medications that cause drowsiness. Some of these drug interactions with Intermezzo can increase your risk for potentially dangerous side effects, such as extreme drowsiness or confusion.
Intermezzo® (zolpidem sublingual tablet) may react with several other medications. Some of the drugs that may interfere with Intermezzo include but are not limited to:
- Alcohol
- Certain antibiotics and antifungal medications, such as:
- Clarithromycin (Biaxin®)
- Fluconazole (Diflucan®)
- Isoniazid
- Itraconazole (Sporanox®)
- Ketoconazole (Nizoral®)
- Posaconazole (Noxafil®)
- Rifabutin (Mycobutin®)
- Rifampin (Rifadin®)
- Rifapentine (Priftin®)
- Telithromycin (Ketek®)
- Voriconazole (Vfend®)
- Medications that cause drowsiness, such as:
- Antipsychotic medications
- Anxiety medications
- Most antidepressants
- Muscle relaxants
- Narcotic pain relievers
- Other sleep medications
- Some antihistamines
- Protease inhibitors, such as:
- Amprenavir (Agenerase®)
- Atazanavir (Reyataz®)
- Darunavir (Prezista®)
- Fosamprenavir (Lexiva®)
- Indinavir (Crixivan®)
- Nelfinavir (Viracept®)
- Ritonavir (Norvir®)
- Saquinavir (Fortovase®, Invirase®).
