Insomnia Symptoms
Difficulty falling asleep, waking up often during the night and having trouble getting back to sleep, and waking up too early in the morning are common insomnia symptoms. These signs and symptoms can result in irritability, difficulty concentrating, and tiredness.
It is not unusual to have trouble sleeping from time to time. But if you feel that you don't get enough sleep, or you don't get enough satisfying sleep, you could possibly have a sleep disorder called insomnia.
People with insomnia have one or more of the following symptoms:
- Difficulty falling asleep
- Waking up often during the night and having trouble going back to sleep
- Waking up too early in the morning
- Non-refreshing sleep.
Symptoms of insomnia can result in problems during the day, including:
- Tiredness
- Lack of energy
- Difficulty concentrating
- Irritability.
If you believe you are experiencing insomnia, see your healthcare provider. He or she can help determine the cause of your insomnia and recommend treatment for you (see Insomnia Treatment).
