Halcion Side Effects

Some of the most common Halcion side effects include drowsiness, headaches, and dizziness. While most side effects of Halcion are considered minor and do not require medical attention, you should notify your healthcare provider immediately if you experience serious side effects of Halcion, such as hallucinations, suicidal thoughts, or signs of an allergic reaction.

An Introduction to Halcion Side Effects

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with Halcion® (triazolam). However, not everyone who takes the medication will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are easily treated by you or your healthcare provider.

(This article covers many, but not all, of the possible side effects with Halcion. Your healthcare provider can discuss a more complete list of Halcion side effects with you.)

Common Halcion Side Effects

Halcion has been studied thoroughly in clinical trials in which the side effects of a group of people taking the drug are documented and then compared to another group not taking the medicine. As a result, it is possible to see what side effects occur, how often they appear, and how they compare to the group not taking the medicine.

In these studies, the most common side effects of Halcion included:

  • Drowsiness -- in up to 14 percent of people
  • Headaches -- up to 9.7 percent
  • Dizziness -- up to 7.8 percent
  • Nervousness -- up to 5.2 percent
  • Lightheadedness -- up to 4.9 percent
  • Coordination problems -- up to 4.6 percent
  • Nausea or vomiting -- up to 4.6 percent.
