Best Time to Take Ambien

Ambien® (zolpidem tartrate) is a prescription medication approved for the treatment of short-term insomnia in adults. It has been shown to help people fall asleep faster, sleep longer, and wake up less often throughout the night.

Since the sleep medicine works quickly, it is important that you make sure you are ready for sleep before taking it. The best time to take Ambien is immediately before you go to bed.

Ambien can cause rapid drowsiness, so you should not take the drug before driving or performing any tasks that require concentration. In general, this medicine is used for only one to two days. It should not be used for more than one to two weeks. If you are still having trouble sleeping after this time, talk with your healthcare provider.
