Sertraline (Zoloft)
When Zoloft and Ambien are used together, the amount of Ambien in the blood may increase. The effect of this is not known.
 
Rifampin (Rifadin, Rimactane)
Taking rifampin and Ambien together may cause your body to metabolize the medicines differently than intended. Your healthcare provider may choose to adjust your dose accordingly.
 
Flumazenil (Romazicon)
Taking both Ambien and flumazenil may cause the sedative effect of Ambien to be reversed.
If you are taking flumazenil, consult your healthcare provider prior to taking Ambien.
 
Other Medicines That Act on the Brain
There are a number of medicines that act on the brain, including medications for depression and anxiety. Although there have been no specific studies on the interaction between these medicines and Ambien, it is possible for an interaction to occur. Your healthcare provider may use caution when prescribing Ambien with another medicine that acts on the brain.
