Ambien CR Uses: An Overview
Ambien CR™ (
zolpidem tartrate extended-release tablets) is a sleeping medication that has been licensed to treat
insomnia. In clinical studies, it has been shown to be helpful in people who have difficulty falling asleep and/or staying asleep. Studies have shown that
Ambien CR is effective for treating insomnia for as long as 24 weeks (6 months).
It is not unusual to have trouble sleeping from time to time. However, if you feel that you do not get enough sleep or cannot obtain satisfying sleep, you could possibly have a sleep disorder called insomnia. People with insomnia have one or more of the following symptoms:
- Difficulty falling asleep
- Waking up often during the night and having trouble going back to sleep
- Waking up too early in the morning
- Non-refreshing sleep.
There are several types of insomnia. They are categorized based on how long the insomnia lasts and how often it occurs. These types include:
- Acute insomnia (short-term)
- Transient insomnia (comes and goes)
- Chronic insomnia.
